"I know I won't be able to walk away from 49 years of friendships, but I look forward to more time spent with my family," David Levy told the Nashville Post when Levy's Clothier announced that it will close at the end of this year.
He and his wife Ellen cited the store's upcoming lease renewal as one reason for closing. A month earlier, Noshville set its own end date. The deli's last restaurant, on Hillsboro Circle, will close June 30, 2027, the day its lease expires.
Two of Green Hills' best-known names are leaving on dates set by their leases. Most of the businesses arriving behind them own their ground, operate as developers or answer to a national corporate parent. You can trace the next year on Hillsboro Pike by checking who controls each property.
Levy's has a long history. Merchant tailor Zadoc Levy founded the business in 1855 on Market Street, which is now Second Avenue. It moved to Fifth Avenue, then to Sixth Avenue in 1948, and came to Green Hills in 1978. WKRN calls it the oldest family-owned men's clothing store in the country. David Levy took over from the family line his great-great-grandfather started in August 1998.
Metro records show that Nashville-based Brookside Properties owns the Levy's property at 3900 Hillsboro Pike. Brookside's office is nearby at 2002 Richard Jones Road. The Nashville Post reports that the owner of Noshville's building at 4014 Hillsboro Circle shares an address with Brookside. Neither report says what will replace either tenant. As of today, no replacement has been announced for either space.
Noshville's reasons go beyond the lease. The Tennessean says the owners pointed to rising costs, more restaurant competition and trouble hiring, and wanted to "go out on a high note." Tom Loventhal opened the original Noshville on Broadway in Midtown in 1996. The Green Hills location followed in 2005, and Cool Springs and airport locations opened in 2007. Midtown closed in 2015.
The name itself has already changed hands. The owners recently sold it to Ben Weprin, founder and CEO of AJ Capital Partners. His firm is redeveloping the former Belle Meade Plaza as Belle Meade Village, and the first buildings there are slated to open in 2028. The reporting does not say what he plans to do with the name.
Here is the calendar as reported:
Two openings have no date yet: On's store on Hillsboro Pike and the Bed Bath & Beyond + The Container Store at Green Hills Village Drive.
Lupo Notte is Southern Land Company's first full-service restaurant. It sits inside Vertis Green Hills at 2035 Richard Jones Road, which is the developer's flagship mixed-use project and its headquarters. Here the landlord and the restaurant operator are the same company. Southern Land CEO Tim Downey has said he hopes it becomes an "everlasting upscale dining destination."
Some details for your first visit:
Epice's move follows the same pattern. Siege Hospitality opened the Lebanese bistro at 2902 12th Ave. S. in 2014. Its new home at 3827 Cleghorn Ave. is a property that a Siege-affiliated LLC bought in 2025, and Metro permit filings show plans for a new 2,600-square-foot restaurant there. Siege expects only a few weeks of downtime between closing on 12th Avenue and reopening in Green Hills. The group is not new to the neighborhood. It has been in Green Hills for more than 20 years through Kalamatas and Santo.
The two closing businesses depend on lease renewals. Lupo Notte opened in its developer's own building, and Epice is moving onto land its operator bought.
The larger retail spaces are filling with tenants backed by national corporate balance sheets.
On, the Swiss running and sportswear brand, is preparing its first Nashville store at 4021 Hillsboro Pike, in the former Whole Foods Whole Body space. Gensler is leading the design. On's revenue topped $3 billion in 2025. The Nashville Business Journal reports that this will be the company's first store in the Southeast. No opening date had been announced as of the July reports.
At 2121 Green Hills Village Drive, Bed Bath & Beyond is bringing in a co-branded store with The Container Store. It combines home goods with organization products, custom design and installation. Green Hills is one of 22 stores in the format's first nationwide rollout. That store has no announced opening date either.
The Mall at Green Hills, at 2126 Abbott Martin Road, has kept adding tenants. In a May update, the mall listed SKIMS, Hollister, Valenti and a temporary Kendra Scott as recent openings, along with relocated Altar'd State and State & Liberty stores. Here is where the stores announced for later in the year stand today:
The renovation has moved more slowly. Simon's February 4 announcement covered an investment of more than $250 million spread across three properties: The Mall at Green Hills, Cherry Creek Shopping Center and International Plaza. It did not say how much goes to Green Hills or give a start date beyond 2026. By June, WSMV reported that shoppers were still waiting for details. Several of them said parking was their main frustration.
Levy's Custom Month ends today, so the last custom tailoring appointments are done. WKRN reports that the store will otherwise run as usual until it closes in late December. David Levy has invited longtime customers to stop by or get in touch to share memories of the store before it closes. At 4014 Hillsboro Circle, Noshville's chicken noodle soup and deli counter will be there for nine more months. Lupo Notte's lunch service is scheduled to start in October.
When a long-held lease ends, the building's next tenant can change the feel of the streets around it. Green Hills Real Estate
Both districts require the same minimum lot size, but they do not permit the same residential uses or create the same development potential.
Brentwood Real Estate
Acreage alone no longer determines what a Brentwood lot can support once green space, setbacks, easements and the full construction plan are considered.
Nashville Market Updates
August brought fewer closings, more inventory and longer market times, even as the median sale price rose.
